IT’S CHRISTMAS!!!

Last week I got my MA results and at first I was disappointed before looking at the bigger picture. At the time, the only thing I thought would cheer me up would be to buy a Christmas tree and decorate it ASAP. At the beginning of the week, I had been to a local garden centre in Tiptree (Perrywoods) and bought a large quantity of decorations. When the cashier said the price, I thought I was going to have a heart attack! But now as I sit here writing this, staring in adoration at my tree, I am glad I got all the baubles I wanted as no one can look at a Christmas tree and feel sad! I also got some really unique and quirky decorations from Paperchase and I just wanted to share what I got today, just in case anyone is in need of inspiration, also, I just love Christmas and my tree so want to show it off!

I wanted to do a different colour scheme to the traditional red and gold as I wanted to have just white LED lights to make the colours stand out for themselves. I went with silver, blue, purple and pink – I used pastel colours and also deeper shades of blue, purple and hot pink so they all complement one another well. At first, I was worried I didn’t get enough baubles so I ordered more from Amazon, but it turns out I had too many and didn’t even use one box! I have got a real Christmas tree and it is massive! It’s about 7.5ft tall and 2m wide but I love it!

From Paperchase I also found a hidden gem in a Christmas craft book! It’s so cute and I love it! It was only Β£10.00 and if you have kids or just want to put a personal touch on your cards and gifts, it’s definitely something I would recommend you buying. The decorations I purchased from there were quite expensive individually but they were 3 for 2 and just jazz up the tree a bit!

All the pictures above are from the craft-book. As you can see, there are plenty of activities to keep yourself and the kids busy in the lead up to Christmas. There are pages of stickers, making your own decorations, cards, matching envelopes (again, which you have to make), gift tags and wrapping paper in there. The lead up to Christmas can be difficult with children as they’re so excitable and easily distracted so I would like to think that this would keep them busy for a while! In the last picture, you can see there are even name tags in there which are perfect if you’re cooking lunch for the whole family and you know exactly where you want people to sit! I just think it’s a great project book for a tenner!

The rest of the decorations were from Perrywoods. They were quite pricey, I’m afraid there’s no way I can skirt around that! But I think they’re worth it, at the end of the day you get what you pay for, as with most things in this world. Plus, I had saved my tips for a month so they were technically paid for by the generous general public! They had some beautiful, delicate baubles that I think make the tree stand out and for it to feel that little bit special – which let’s face it, that’s what Christmas is all about. I got some beautiful tealight holders which have silhouettes of reindeers, snowflakes and Christmas trees in glitter – what more could you want?

One of my other favourite things to do at Christmas is light candles so the only light in the room is the tree and candles. It just makes the room feel cozy and warm. The final two things I’m going to share are from Cath Kidston and Yankee candle. My advent calendar this year is a Yankee candle one and it’s so lovely! Everyday I get a festive smelling candle that I light pretty much straight away, so to be honest, it’s a good job I get a new one everyday! When I got back from Barcelona, I stopped off at Bluewater shopping centre for some dinner and went in the Cath Kidtson shop. They had their Christmas collection in and I just had to purchase a Christmas mug, (which is perfect for a hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream) and also some Christmas champagne flutes which are so dreamy that I just had to try them out the other night!

So that’s how my Christmas is shaping up so far! My bedroom is like an Amazon warehouse and I seriously need to get my arse into gear and start wrapping the presents so they can go under the tree.

I suppose there’s nothing left to say except:

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
